In most cases, the status of a task is not manually modified. Rather, it is automatically updated by actions performed on a task, such as a change in task ownership. The table below defines each task status.
Table: Task Statuses
Status |
This status applies when... |
Cancelled |
The task is cancelled manually. This status is not automatically applied if the engagement is cancelled. |
Completed |
The task is marked complete by a user, usually the task owner or onboarding manager. This status also applies when the status of the engagement is manually set to complete, when an approver marks a task as complete, and when a new hire submits a task that does not require approval. If an HTML form task is completed, the new hire cannot modify the form in the New Hire Portal. However, the new hire is able to view the completed form. |
In Progress |
The task start date is current or has past, and the task is not completed. For HTML form tasks, an In Progress state allows a new hire to access and complete a form in the New Hire Portal. |
Initiated |
The task is assigned to a group rather than an individual task owner. This status can also be selected by onboarding managers when modifying a task. |
On Hold |
The task has been manually placed on hold. This status is not automatically applied if the entire engagement is put on hold. |
Pending Initialization |
The task has a future start date or a parent task that is not complete. |
Submitted |
The task has been submitted by the new hire and is waiting for approval. |
Rejected |
The task is rejected by either the task owner or the approver. Rejected tasks are returned to previous owner; if the task has no previous owner, it is returned to the onboarding manager. |
