Reject a Task

A task can be rejected by an approver when the task was not completed successfully, whether it be a task assigned to a new hire or to an existing employee (an internal task owner). Rejecting a task reassigns it back to the previous owner, who is notified of the change via email. For example, if a new hire completes a task, but it is rejected by the approver, the task is sent back to the new hire. Likewise, if a user other than the approver rejects a task, the task is sent back to the previous task owner.

Internal task owners can also reject tasks assigned to them, for example, if the task was assigned to them in error or they cannot complete it. When a task is rejected by an internal task owner, it is returned to the Onboarding Manager, who is notified of the change via email.

If the rejected task is sent to an internal task owner or Onboarding Manager, that user will see the You have [x] Task(s) in a Rejected status link on the My PeopleFluent tab. If the task was submitted by a new hire, the icon next to the task in the New Hire Portal changes to indicate the task is unfinished. In each case, an email notification is sent to the person who owns the task after the rejection.
